Today’s entry marks the first in a series of quests to find the most inspirational fanart to match some of the greatest quotes from all across pop-culture (which we affectionately refer to as the “geekoshphere”).
If you grew up in the 80’s or 90’s, repeating “Bueller” over and over in the most monotone voice was a way of life. To this day, most millennials have at least considered ordering a drink at Starbucks under the name Bueller, and then sneaking out (and if Starbucks weren’t such an important elixir for morning traffic, some of us might actually go through with it).
One of the greatest lessons to come from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was that “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.” The quote inspired me to find the most awesome artwork possible, which lead me to this work by Eren Unten.
About the artwork, Eren said on her Tumblr: “Here’s my piece for Bottleneck Gallery’s ‘I Love You Man’ show that opened this past weekend in Brooklyn. I love Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and chose the scene where Ferris, Cameron, and Sloane are at a museum. I probably should have picked the classic Cameron, Ferris and Ferrari combo, but I wanted to do something a little different. :)”
The serene expressions of the characters gave me a rush of childhood nostalgia…almost as if, somewhere out there, these characters are still at that museum, forever inspiring high-schoolers to ditch school with a pack of gummy bears and just take a day off.
For more work by Eren Unten, visit her site at www.erenunten.com, because you just shouldn’t miss out on her epic renditions of Dorothy with her companions, Alice having tea in Wonderland, several Doctor Who adventures and much much more.
In the meantime, I shall continue to search the geekosphere for more fanart. If you have any favorite quotes from movies/books/comics/TV, feel free to send me a message on www.facebook.com/screenplayas.
